News Brief

New York, NY, March 1, 2007

Medicine for Africa (MfA) announces a collaborative venture with SARFMRADIO, New York, an internet based radio station, to produce a weekly one hour show, highlighting the medical situation and needs of African countries.

The co-operation will allow for an on air presentation of Medicine for Africa, its projects and plans for supporting the general health care situation in sub-Saharan African countries. It will also provide companies which are interested in supporting Africa, the continent’s health care needs, and the projects of Medicine for Africa, with a platform to show their interest and engagement in the continent. SARFMRADIO will expand its program by a weekly one hour show that will concentrate on introducing America to the current health care situation and its needs in a variety of African countries. The program will introduce the listeners to special organizations that support African health care, interview African and non-African physicians, nurses and other medical personnel. Thus, SARFMRADIO will instigate a public forum for people all over the world to participate in helping Africa to develop its health care services by sharing their opinion and own knowledge about the subject.

Chaka, DJ at SARFMRADIO, expressed his satisfaction about this arrangement, ‘We are pleased to be able to bring the problems of African health care and possible ways on how to attack them, to the forefront. To involve the public in this discussion will, hopefully, also cause the political leaders to listen up and support Africa, the ‘forgotten continent’. We will also provide a platform for medical related companies to show and express their empathy for Africa.’

Dr. Tom C. Garven, Executive Director of Medicine for Africa, stated, ‘I am very thankful to Chaka and SARFMRADIO to support our project that is aimed at improving the African health care system, and to provide a base to bring our intentions to the public. This will also help MfA to raise funds for its services and to expand on services provided. We believe that we could bring high quality medical services to the African countries and we are seeking the support of Physicians, Governments and political Agencies.’
