Medical Information Brochure - MIB

According to the ‘Universal Declaration of Human Rights’, issued by the United Nations (UN) in 1998, at the occasion of its 50th birthday, Article 26 specifies that ‘everyone has the right to education’, which ‘shall be free in its elementary and fundamental stages’.  Certainly, the right to get to know one’s own health status, how to protect it, and how to stay healthy, would fall under the heading of ‘elementary and fundamental’ knowledge of life.  Education is also the cornerstone of social and economic development of any country, setting the foundation for future well-being and prosperity. An increased awareness of a healthy lifestyle and knowledge of how to protect oneself effectively from becoming the victim of widespread diseases and illnesses has long been acknowledged and known in the medical society, as being one of the best and most efficient ways of conducting ‘prevention’.

It is for this purpose, that Medicine for Africa has created its 'Medical Info Service', in order to provide many of these articles in a printed format as a folded 'Medical Information Brochure' - MIB - the healthcare encyclopedia for everyone!

These MIBs can be distributed among the population of townships, rural towns and villages throughout (Southern) Africa, where there is no Internet. MfA hopes to make an important and long-lasting impact – by providing medical and general healthcare information to the medically less educated person, in a manner that can be understood by every man and every woman, who seeks to learn more about ways on how to stay healthy, and on how to live a longer and healthier life. To the best of our organization's possibilities, we will try to print and deliver any MIBs that are requested by local or national Ministries of Health or local healthcare facilities, free of charge or for a nominal fee only.

Individually designed MIBs can also be produced for public or private companies, organizations or foundations, which seek to distribute relevant basic healthcare information among their employees or members. A corporate MIB will bear the company's logo on the front page, and can be designed in colour and outlay according to individual wishes. Corporate MIBs will be priced according to the extent of individual design changes and the number of different themes and total amount of MIBs ordered. All proceeds from the sale of corporate MIBs will directly go back to support our medical healthcare education efforts in Southern African countries.
